I used to be a Product Manager, building complex products at fast-growing companies.
And I kept seeing something weird.
Even when a product was genuinely good—thoughtful, well-built, clearly useful—people still didn’t use it.
Not because they were stubborn. Or lazy. Or “resistant to change.”
But because no one had helped them understand how it actually fit into their day.
That’s when I realized the part of the job I loved most wasn’t the building.
It was the translating.
Taking something complex and making it make sense. Turning “Here’s a new thing” into “Ohhh, that’s how I use this.”
I started noticing the same thing with people, too. Smart, capable people don’t struggle with change because they can’t handle it.
They struggle because it’s fuzzy. Overwhelming. And usually explained in a way that assumes they have way more mental bandwidth than they do.
So now I focus on adoption and enablement—and I coach people through change the same way.
With clarity. With structure. And with steps that actually fit into real life—so change doesn’t just sound good, it sticks.
